Rihanna apparently felt guilty about canceling her performance at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show on November 3, and made up for it with a heartfelt note expressing her apologies. “Wish I was there with you guys. Kill it tonight. See you all next time, Love, Rihanna,” read her lovely note, posted by Stephen Lee to Instagram on November 10. The note, found backstage, was attached to what looks like a bundle of hot pink balloons (definitely on theme). “A little backstage secret from #Rhianna @badgalriri we miss you 💋#vsfashionshow @victoriassecret,” Stephen captioned the pic.
The rumor mill started churning on November 3 when Jourdan, who has walked in the Victoria’s Secret fashion show for the past three years, tweeted and deleted some major shade at the lingerie conglomerate: “Feeling so much better not doing BS…sorry I mean VS now that Rihanna isn’t doing it also.” Note that this tweet happened just moments after Rihanna’s announcement. Either Jourdan was just glad that she wasn’t going to miss a free Rihanna concert, or there was something else going on. Did Rihanna drop out when she heard that Jourdan wouldn’t be attending?
You see, the same time it was revealed that Jourdan wouldn’t be in the show, Kendall Jenner was announced to bewalking for Victoria’s Secret for the first time. It’s possible that Jourdan got bumped for Kendall. It seemed like Rihanna’s departure could have been a show of solidarity. Though Rihanna has been on good terms with the Kardashian family, due to her friendship with Kanye West, her relationship with Kendall has been a little strained. Rihanna and Kendall had a bit of a sassy Twitter exchange in 2013 over the set list at Rihanna’s concert. Nothing major though!
